Have you ever considered singing in our worship choir, but perhaps talked yourself out of it? Well, here is the perfect opportunity to get involved! What amount of time will it cost you? Only one and a half hours per week!
Starting Wednesday August 4, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, the Worship and Music Ministries will begin our fall season of ministry, and we would love to have you join us! Experience is not necessary, but a desire to lift high the name of Jesus through corporate worship and music is encouraged. We will equip you with everything you need to begin your service to the Lord. Opportunities include our recording project and our Christmas Celebration on December 4th and 5th, as well as our weekly dynamic worship experiences. The time to stop asking "what if?" is now! When you consider the subject of worship, here is an encouragement for you . . . with “God helping you, take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking around life – and place it before God as an offering.” (Romans 12:1 – The Message)
This verse makes it pretty clear that worship is about all the moments of our lives. From the book Pure Praise by Dwayne Moore . . .
“Worship is not just something we do on Sundays at church. And it’s certainly more than singing or attending a service, although those are included. Worship is a lifestyle. It involves everything we do and think and are. It means loving God with every breath we take and every move we make.”
Rick Warren says “worship is simply bringing pleasure to God.”
We often mistake a one-hour event – usually on Sunday – as our only time to worship. Or sometimes we call the music in that weekly hour The Worship Time. But, the truth is, every minute of every day God has called us to be worshipers. One of the focus verses for our worship ministries is John 4:23 which says But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth . . . they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. We worship when we are doing the activities of our lives in obedience to the will o f God, with a heart of submission and surrender. A life of worship is all about making sure God is getting the glory.
So, worshiping God should consume each part of our lives. In every activity, in every place, and in every relationship, we are to be emptied of self and filled with the Spirit of God.
